While it's not very difficult to create a gargantuous SQL database that contains all the information of all people on Planet Earth, such an approach would create some definitive security issues. In an earlier article on Identity Attributes I already started talking about a cloud-like storage which utilizes striping, redundancy and encryption. Let's look at these techniques in some more detail now. -

Identity Attributes part I
Yesterday I wrote my own introduction to identity management from a broader point of view than just the online or the offline perspective. The article was very brief and to the point, just to hit a point home; our identities are not nearly as well defined as they could be and sharing 'online' information is part of our identity, not a threat to our identity. I've considered titling this article 'Online Identity Management' instead as this is what we most frequently hear or read about. I feel however that more and more things 'offline' and 'online' are starting to blend together so I'd like to make a start here and remove the distinction. iptables NFLOG support in Vuurmuur
I recently joined the vuurmuur project. Vuurmuur is an opensource firewall application for Linux. I implemented support for NFLOG in vuurmuur. In this article I will describe how I coded this support. The scope of this article is mostly people interested in coding using libnetfilter. -
