Gorilla in the Room
There's a big gorilla in the room and nobody wants to talk about it. While doing research last night I bumped on a great article by Joe Andrieu (linked to in the right column). In his article Joe states that, among other things, "Privacy as secrecy is dead". My friend Andrew, in a response to my article "Identity Genome" from yesterday, said "Not sure that privacy, as we have defined if prior to and even into the information age, is even feasible.". That's one of the very first 'online' responses I got on my website. -
Identity Genome
I've been reassessing my own motivations for writing about the subject of Identity Management and my desire to start a project that involves building a global identity management system. A strong motivation since beginning this series of articles has been that I feel the internet is a phenomenal global communication system that could facilitate efficient communication between the people of Planet Earth. As I'm getting closer towards a full project description based on the articles I've written so far it is time to take a step back and see what we're heading in to. -
Pseudo Identity Management Protocol
So far I've been looking in some detail into some of the aspects of a global identity management system. It can get confusing to look into too many details without seeing the whole picture, so today let's look at some pseudo protocol examples. None of these examples will be a complete protocol description for the sake of brevity. -

As I'm writing more on identity management and thinking more about the subject I am starting to understand an important difference better. In the debate on internet privacy, people frequently seem to confuse privacy for anonimity.
